You don’t hear this often – I want you to be average!  That is, I want you to be the average of the people you spend the most time with.  Over time, like it or not, you will become the average of the five people you spend the most time with.  The question becomes, is that average an improvement for you or will it hold you back?

Write down who you spend the most time with as of today.  Keep an open mind about this, it could be different people than you may at first think.  What authors are you reading, whom are you listening to, whom are you most influenced by, what conversations are happening around you?  It could even be people you have never met.  They could be alive or have lived hundreds of years ago.  In every area of your life you will eventually become the average of those five people.  You will earn the average they earn.  Your net worth will be their average net worth.  The quality of your relationships will be the average of their relationships.  Your influence will be the average of theirs.  Your ability to grow will be their growth ability.

Do you need to add to your list, replace anyone on your list, or limit your relationship with anyone on your list?  Is your list’s average going to allow you to achieve your goals or is it limiting you?
